Cell Phone Recycling

January 10, 2007

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Beginning on January 22nd, Woods Road will be collecting used and discarded cell phones for the purpose of having them recycled to raise money for our students and school programs.  We will be placing a collection container in our lobby.

Several of our parents, including Mr. Lipton and Mr. Pierini, have organized this fund raiser for us.  It serves other purposes in addition to raising money.  It will help to raise awareness with our students about recycling and the environment.  Students will come to understand that the plastics and e-waste will stay out of our landfills.  Additionally, it helps to continue the discussion about how we can help charitable organizations and individuals.  By recycling old technology into usable technology, for those who couldn’t otherwise-afford cell phones, we continue to teach the Pillars of Character.

Please seek out friends, relatives and neighbors who do not have children at Woods Roads to help in our endeavor.  We thank you in advance.
